WASTEWISE has established synergies with the initiatives under the call HORIZON-CL6-2024-FARM2FORK-01, the so-called sister project, as well as with other projects that share our values and mission. Together, we’re tackling food waste from different angles.

The PRECIOUS project takes a comprehensive, data-driven approach to food loss and waste prevention and reduction by integrating big data & AI to track and measure food waste, developing FLW prevention strategies tailored to different food sectors, assessing environmental and economic impacts using advanced models, and involving key stakeholders in co-creation and decision-making processes.

This approach will lead to the creation of a robust and standardised database of FLW prevention actions; development of advanced assessment models to evaluate FLW reduction strategies; integration of FLW solutions into EU climate policies and sustainability frameworks, and engagement with stakeholders across the food supply chain for large-scale impact.

Precious project

WASTELESS (2023-2025) aims to develop tools and recommendations for measuring and monitoring food losses and waste (FLW), which will ultimately contribute to its reduction by at least 20% annually. The main objective of the project is to develop tools to measure FLW in critical and lesser-known food supply chains and propose ways of quantifying the data.

It developed an innovative set of decision-support tools for all those working along the food chain across the EU, to enable the reduction and re-use of food waste in the long term. WASTELESS will carry out five case studies to understand utilisation and role/contribution of specific food groups such as fruits and vegetables, fruit juices, processed meat, dairy products and cereals in the FLW.

Folou logo

FOLOU is willing to contribute to unlock the systemic transition of EU food systems by setting up the necessary mechanisms to measure and estimate food losses at the primary production stage, encompassing agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries; monitor and report food losses at Member States and European levels; and assess the magnitude and impact of Food Losses, and identify its key drivers.

Additionally, FOLOU works to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer and adoption of the project outcomes among the key target stakeholders: primary producers, retailers, consumers, policymakers, and researchers.
