Multi-Actor Platforms (MAPs)

WASTEWISE has created five Multi-Actor Platforms involving relevant stakeholders throughout the agri-food supply chain and various types of entities. The identified stakeholders include government and public administration representatives, consumer organisations, NGOs, farmers’ associations and private companies.

Under the leadership of the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, around 60 relevant stakeholders have been identified to collaborate in the five MAPs created in six countries. The WASTEWISE consortium countries of Italy, Romania, Spain and Switzerland will be represented, and another MAP has been set up for Finland and Sweden.

These Multi-Actor Platforms aim to encourage discussion between key stakeholders regarding on the prevention and reduction of food waste. The main aim is to promote better integration between food waste issues and other related policy areas, particularly those concerning energy and the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions.

“We are glad to involve relevant stakeholders from six countries in this dialogue, the project’s activities, and to be part of multi-stakeholder platforms. We hope to have fruitful discussions with them to create policy recommendations to improve the prevention and reduction of food waste,” states Cristian Popescu, Associate Professor at POLITEHNICA Bucharest.
